SatGen GNSS Signal Simulation

Opublikowano w Other

Novatel SatGen screenshotSatGen Signal Simulation Software can be used with LabSat Wideband to simulate all major constellations and signals.

If you need to record, replay or simulate multi-frequency, multi-constellation signals, then we have an easy to use, and cost-effective solution.

SatGen software allows you to create a GNSS RF I&Q or IF data file based on a user-generated trajectory file that can be replayed on a LabSat GNSS Simulator. This allows you to simulate almost any kind of test, at a set time and date, anywhere in the world.

For example, say you are based in Europe, but your GPS devices will be deployed throughout the world. With SatGen you can create a test scenario for virtually any location, including hostile areas for which live-sky field testing might be impossible.

This allows you to verify that your GPS equipment performs as required, in a variety of locations that may be geographically remote from your facility.

LabSat Wideband conncted to GNSS engineSatGen complements the LabSat range of GNSS simulators, and is available in single, dual, triple and multi-frequency/multi-constellation versions.

Of course, LabSat can record and replay live data, but creating an artificial scenario allows you to precisely control the data content, create a ‘gold standard’ file for carrying out true comparisons between receivers.

From your bench you can try different acceleration levels, crossing different time zones, the equator, leap second, roll-over and many hard to replicate tests.

The latest version of SatGen can be used to create a single scenario containing all the upper and lower L Band signals for GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, and BeiDou, and will take advantage of the LabSat 3 Wideband’s ability to read RF data at up to 95 MB/s.

What constellations & signals can I create?

  • Single Constellation - Create single constellation scenario files for GPS L1/ Galileo E1, GLONASS L1 or BeiDou B1
  • Dual Constellation - Create dual or single constellation scenario files for GPS L1/ Galileo E1, GLONASS L1 or BeiDou B1
  • Triple Constellation - Create triple, dual or single constellation scenario files for GPS L1/ Galileo E1, GLONASS L1 or BeiDou B1
  • Wideband - Create LabSat 3 Wideband scenario files for:
    GPS L1C/A, L1P, L1M, L2C, L2P, L2M, L5 ( L1M, L2M noise created only)
    Galileo E1, E5A, E5B, E6 (coming soon)

  • Real-Time – Create real-time GPS/ Galileo E1, GLONNASS, BeiDou L1 signals with the additional LabSat RT dual constellation system

How does SatGen work?

SatGen can be used to create a scenario which replicates very high dynamic conditions, allowing engineers to test their systems work in all environments. You could simulate an aircraft taking off and going into a vertical climb up to 30,000 feet, and then performing a high g-turn at this altitude, all without leaving your bench!

Creating your own scenarios couldn't be easier. If you have an NMEA file which contains GGA data, then you can import this directly into the software or alternatively, you can start from scratch by creating a route in Google Earth, or build a profile using simple user commands.

Developed with the user in mind, this software allows you to create a static scenario, where a position can be manually inserted or easily determined using the integrated Google Maps screen. You can also draw a route by simply clicking-on a series of locations on the map.

SatGen-GPS-Simulation-Software

SatGen includes a range of predefined command buttons and scenario examples (including figure-of-eight, circle around a point and aircraft take-off). These pre-set scenarios allow you to test a device by making a few simple clicks.

GNSS Frequency Guide - LabSat 3 Wideband

Opublikowano w Other

This helpful application can be used to select and look up GNSS frequencies and signal locations. The GNSS Frequency Guide is based on the LabSat 3 Wideband's integral web interface which enables you to setup and manage the GNSS testing program from a PC. You can see a demo of the web interface here.

How to use the GNSS Frequency Guide

Move the coloured bandwidth boxes in diagram above to change the centre frequencies (press left mouse button and drag to left or right). Select your bandwidth requirement - select your required frequencies -  see available quantisation levels.

SELECT SIGNAL DISPLAY

Example:

  • 1) Select signal display: All signals including 'show individual signals'.
  • 2) Select '56 MHz' bandwidth.
  • 3) Select one signal band '1 Band'.
  • 4) Note quantisation is 3 bits.
  • 5) Move the red box to select the centre frequency.
  • 6) Select different bandwidth/channels to explore full capability.

Bandwidth Setting:

LabSat 3 Wideband has three bandwidth settings. 56 MHz, 30 MHz and 10 MHz.

The bandwidth of the GNSS signals varies, for example a GPS L1 C/A code signal has a bandwidth of 24 MHz. However, due to the signal design a bandwidth of 9.66 MHz will capture enough data to allow the receiver under test to acquire, track and navigate as with LabSat 3 single, dual and triple constellation devices.

Other signals with a different signal design like Galileo E1 PRS signal has a bandwidth of 46 MHz and a signal design spread across the bandwidth.

Many other signals have a similar requirement like GPS L1/L2 P code and M code. LabSat 3 Wideband has been designed to capture all these signals.

Frequency Setting:

LabSat 3 Wideband is designed to capture and replay GNSS signals in the upper L-Band (1559 - 1610 MHz) and lower L-Band (1164 - 1300 MHz).

Quantisation setting:

LabSat 3 Wideband can record and replay GNSS Signals at quantisation levels of:

  • 3 bits (3 bit I + 3 bit Q)
  • 2 bits (2 bit I + 2 bit Q)
  • 1 bits (1 bit I + 1 bit Q)
