DGE - Telematic Controls

DGE, an FEV North America, Inc. company uses LabSat for vehicle telematics simulation.

DGE develops hardware and software for automotive control modules and automated test systems. Its capabilities also include the validation and testing for components and connected vehicle systems that must stand up to the rigors of daily use in vehicles.

The Problem

DGE were commissioned by a major automotive manufacturer to develop a tool to enable vehicle telematics to be tested without needing to physically perform tests on the road. The Michigan based company required a GPS simulation device that could integrate with their system tester to evaluate telematics control units in a controlled environment.

The Solution

Previously using more expensive systems, DGE chose LabSat to record and replay GPS and CAN signal data. Impressed by LabSat's ability to drastically reduce testing time, DGE have now placed orders for ten systems.

Chris Shamoun, Program Manager for DGE, said:

"We look forward to using our new LabSat's to develop our system performance. They'll also be key in allowing for future flexibility and automation of our Telematics System Testers (TST)."

Jim Lau, Technical Director at RACELOGIC USA, said:

"DGE's investment in ten LabSat units shows they believe in our technology and recognize it is a great solution to test their in-car telematics systems. We demonstrated the LabSat to them over a year ago but I am delighted to see that they chose us for their current project. We look forward to continuing to supply and support DGE in their testing needs."

About DGE

Founded in 1984, DGE develops hardware and software for automotive control modules and automated test systems. Its capabilities also include the validation and testing for components and connected vehicle systems that must stand up to the rigors of daily use in vehicles. For the infotainment and telematics space, DGE develops applications for intelligent vehicles that can communicate beyond in-vehicle systems, including infotainment systems that connect with external devices such as iPods and smart phones, and applications that interface with smart traffic intersections as part of the Intelligent Transportation System.
