Galileo System July 2019 Outage - LabSat Recorded Event Files

The Galileo Global Navigation Satellite System has experienced a 6-day signal outage. This occurred from approximately Thursday 11th July at 14.45 hrs (UTC) when GPS World reported poorer signal quality. The system was restored on Tuesday 16th July at 19.00 hrs (UTC). Galileo NAGU of July 18th at 20.52 hrs (UTC) reports SERVICE RESTORED (POTENTIAL INSTABILITY).

At LabSat we are continually recording GNSS signals. We have made freely available, three one hour long files from this outage for download from the LabSat website. These files are in the LabSat 3 (.ls3) format and will need converting to LabSat 3 Wideband format if required.

The full data set is available from on Wednesday 10th July at 14.20 hrs UTC to Tuesday 16th July at 19.07 hrs (UTC). This data set of 143 files in one-hour recorded files is about 4.2 TB of data and can only be transferred on a SSD. This will be a chargeable item for the media used. New version of SatGen v3

An updated version of SatGen v3 is now available to download. Along with a number of optimisations and fixes, this is a major update to the capabilities of the software as it now allows for the simulation of new satellite signals such as L2, L2C, and L5 – making the use of SatGen with the LabSat 3 Wideband significantly more powerful.

This latest version also allows for the creation of complex (multi-frequency, multi-constellation) scenarios, enabling development and test of dual frequency GNSS receivers in a highly dependable and repeatable manner.

With L2C likely to be fully operational within the next two to three years once twenty-four satellites are transmitting the signal (currently at nineteen), the emergence of dual frequency devices is set to rapidly accelerate. Taking advantage of the robust simulation capacity of LabSat 3 Wideband hardware in conjunction with SatGen V3 software will give a competitive edge to those manufacturers leading the way in dual frequency design.

SatGen can now be used to create a single scenario containing all the upper and lower L Band signals for GPS, GLONASS, and BeiDou, and will take advantage of the LabSat 3 Wideband’s ability to read RF data at up to 80 MB/s.

Integral HTML Interface for LabSat 3 Wideband

A new Integral Web Server Interface, which can be easily accessed via a standard web browser on your PC has been designed to simplify the configuration and device control process of LabSat 3 Wideband.

This product feature is available for LabSat 3 Wideband since firmware version 1.00 build 260.

A demo of the LabSat 3 Wideband HTML Interface is available online. It gives you quick guide through the application, showing the most important features available when connecting to the LabSat with a web browser.
