LabSat 3 Wideband

Record & Replay up to 4 Constellations & 20 Satellite Signals simultaneously

LabSat 3 WIDEBAND captures and replays more GNSS signals at much higher resolution than before.

LabSat3 Wideband front

With three channels, a bandwidth of up to 56MHz and 6 bit sampling (3 bit I & 3 bit Q), LabSat 3 WIDEBAND can handle almost any combination of constellation and signal that exists today, with plenty of spare capacity for future planned signals.

LabSat 3 WIDEBAND can record and replay the following signals:

  • GPS: L1 / L2 / L5
  • GLONASS: L1 / L2 / L3
  • BeiDou: B1 / B2 / B3
  • QZSS: L1 / L2 / L5
  • Galileo: E1 / E1a / E5a / E5b / E6
  • IRNSS: L5

Small, battery powered and with a removable solid state disk, LabSat 3 WIDEBAND allows you to quickly gather detailed, real world satellite data and replay these signals on your bench.

Integral HTML Interface for Configuration

To simplify the configuration and device control process, LabSat 3 Wideband has an internal web server for configuration which can be easily accessed via a standard web browser on your PC.

You can see a demo of the LabSat 3 Wideband Web Interface here.

Wideband Freq
The image above shows an example test setup within the LabSat 3 Wideband web server. All GNSS signals and one signal band are selected, a bandwidth of 56 MHz around the centre frequency of 1580 MHz, and a current quantisation of 1.

Setting Options

Bandwidth Setting:

LabSat 3 Wideband has three bandwidth settings. 56 MHz, 30 MHz and 10 MHz.

The bandwidth of the GNSS signals varies, for example a GPS L1 C/A code signal has a bandwidth of 24 MHz. However, due to the signal design a bandwidth of 9.66 MHz will capture enough data to allow the receiver under test to acquire, track and navigate as with LabSat 3 single, dual and triple constellation devices.

Other signals with a different signal design like Galileo E1 PRS signal has a bandwidth of 46 MHz and a signal design spread across the bandwidth.
Many other signals have a similar requirement like GPS L1/L2 P code and M code. LabSat 3 Wideband has been designed to capture all these signals.

Frequency Setting:

LabSat 3 Wideband is designed to capture and replay GNSS signals in the upper L-Band (1559 - 1610 MHz) and lower L-Band (1164 - 1300 MHz).

Quantisation setting:

LabSat 3 Wideband can record and replay GNSS Signals at quantisation levels of:
  • 3 bits (3 bit I + 3 bit Q)
  • 2 bits (2 bit I + 2 bit Q)
  • 1 bits (1 bit I + 1 bit Q)

Recording and Replay of Additional Signals

LabSat 3 Wideband can record a range of additional signals, synchronised to the GNSS input: dual-CAN, RS232, and digital inputs are simultaneously captured increasing the level of playback realism and allowing for a wider range of testing. This flexibility means that the development of products incorporating this variety of signal streams can be conducted with absolute convenience on the bench, without the need for costly and time consuming field trials. NMEA data is also recorded via the inbuilt GNSS receiver.

LabSat 3 Wideband Additional Inputs

Can I test with an internal antenna & no external antenna connector?

Yes, by using our active GPS antenna or the Passive GPS/GLONASS antennas listed in our LabSat 3 accessories section. These antennas connect directly to the RF ports on the LabSat 3 Wideband and will transmit the RF signal over short distances to the GNSS device being tested.

Please note that you need to be in an RF-screened environment to avoid interference with live signals. This can be done in a fully screened RF room or a portable enclosure, such as the LabSat Test Enclosure. The LabSat Test Enclosure allows for secure screened testing and is ideal when working with devices that do not have an external antenna connector - such as wearables, smartphones, and sports/fitness trackers.

Future-Proofing Your Products

With LabSat 3 Wideband, you are able to develop your products and systems in readiness for new GNSS receivers capable of using the signals that will start to broadcast within the next few years. With the advent of L2C, L5, and L1C, the next generation of GNSS devices will have increased accuracy and capabilities - LabSat 3 Wideband gives you the opportunity to develop your products to be compatible with new receivers as they come to market.
