How can I test my location based services (LBS) application in another country?

LBS-Mobile-testingHere's how to test your GNSS device without expensive worldwide travel.

The development of the internet and digital mapping together with satellite navigation technology has revolutionised location based services (LBS) and given rise to endless possibilities. Services that use location have multiplied across the globe, and they’ve moved from desktop to mobile. The need for accurate and efficient testing of LBS applications is greater than ever.

But how do you test location based systems that use GNSS constellations such as GPS or GLONASS without expensive and time consuming travel?

Record and Replay technology is a cost effective solution. By recording and then replaying live sky GNSS signals with a LabSat record and replay system and creating your own scenarios, real testing can take place faster than ever before.

Replaying the signals to GNSS devices under test (such as Smartphones) will recreate the journey used during recording as many times as required with consistency and repeatability. Any faults found can be replayed as necessary, which helps speed up development.

LBS application testing can easily be completed with a small set of worldwide scenarios. If you’re on a limited budget, Racelogic offer a bespoke scenario generation service (using SatGen software), which can then be replayed using the LabSat Replay only model.
